CORONAVIRUS FAKE NEWS


               In the beginning of the Coronavirus pandemic in late February, fake news has multiplied and invaded social networks, the World Health Organization twisted the neck of several web sites denouncing their spread and insisting on correcting a large number of false informations. Many governments had the aim to highlight verified informations from official sources and also to spot fake news on the internet as quickly as possible in order to reduce their rise, they start managing to slip through the cracks and help to disentangle the true from the false.
Like the one that announced the US military bring the Covid-19 to Wuhan in October 2019,  there are persistent rumors that the United states has a role to play in the spread of Coronavirus in China, a video was in the media in March 12, the Director of the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention Robert Redfield said it was likely that Coronavirus deaths had not been identified as such without a screening test, saying that he had elements proving that such a scenario had occurred, but Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lijian Zhao immediately shared the video, saying that American soldiers allegedly introduced the virus to Wuhan during the World Military Games in which a delegation took part in October 2019, if the controversy has gained momentum it is based solely on a statement that has not been verified.
Some rumors about the 5G, it is a very popular theory that originated from the United States with a video that went viral on the internet claiming that 5G, by airwaves, participated in spreading the virus around the world, which would explain why China and the USA are very affected, the video has been viewed more than 400,000 times but it's false information, it has been widely demonstrated that the virus is not spread by air but by human contact.
Covid-19 was not created in the laboratory, according to studies published on Saturday March 28, lot of people believe that Coronavirus was created in the laboratory to become a biological weapon and doesn't come from natural origin, a fake news that has been shared in mass on social medias which based on conspiracy theories.
Holding your breath doesn't tell you if you are infected, since mid March, publications have been shared many times on social networks claiming that if a person could hold his breath for ten seconds, it would mean that he is not infected with the Coronavirus and vice versa, then the World Health Organization has refused this theory repeating that only a laboratory test can detect the virus.
An Italian Priest didn't sacrifice himself for a younger parient, Italy one of the countries hard hit by the Coronavirus, has become a favorite land of fake news, i, recent days one of them has gone viral, claiming that a priest from a village in Lombardy who died of Coronavirus, would have sacrificed himself to offer his respiratory system to a younger parient but the affair was denied by the authorities in Bergamo.
Containment has not reduced pollution, while better air quality has been observed in France, especially in the Ile-de-France region by AirParif, air pollution has not yet dropped, unlike Italy or China which observed a clear decrease.
The confinement gave rise to many false reports, among them, scenes of a fight and riot in supermarkets in Seine-Saint-Denis which are said to have degenerated because of the confinement, a video shared many times on social networks shows a violent brawl in a supermarket in Aubervilliers.
The WhatsApp company reacts to fake news on the Coronavirus, the application wants to counter the spread of false information after people start sharing lot of messages and content related to the health situation via private messaging, some of these messages go viral and their origin can sometimes be questionable when it is not purely and simply fake news, if it's widely shared among the population this false information can pose real public health problems in view of the serious health crisis facing the hole world, for those who use the application these message transfers will now be limited to a single recipient per shipment, announced the blog of WhatsApp on Tuesday, April 7. "Is transferring messages wrong? Absolutely not, is it written in the post? We know that many users upload useful information as well as funny videos, memos and thoughts or prayers that matter to them. In recent weeks, people have also used WhatsApp to organize public events in support of healthcare professionals on the front line"
As with all high level media topics, Coronavirus has its share of misinformation continues to stoke the fires of not just the traditional media but also websites and social media, according to research carried out by News Guard, this was more than all of the NHS website engagements received from Facebook and Twitter during the past 30 days, Downing Street's anti-fake news unit is dealing up to 10 cases of misinformation about Coronavirus a day as it emerged some articles are getting more views than all of those posted by the NHS put together. The unit asked the Department of Health and Social Care to create and share posts on Facebook and Twitter to rebut false medical advice and direct the public to official guidance.
